Papers used are Bo Bunny "Winter Joy" and Core Co-ordinations, both papers embossed. I cut an aperture in the Bo Bunny paper (using old box lid as a template). The Angel was stamped with Memento ink and coloured in with my pro markers then double embossed and placed in the aperture. Using Marianne poinsetta dies and the Bo Bunny paper for the flowers, and the purple paper for centres.

Papers used are Basic Grey in Glisten/Avalanche and Kaiser card in a pale turquise. Also used woodware "Star" border for fancy edges. Star shapes were cut and embossed. Angel was again stamped with memento ink, coloured with pro markers, cut out and attatched to star shape for main image. Two smaller stars were used for sentiments and attached to smaller card. White ribbon finished this off.

Angel (s) stamped in memento ink and coloured with pro markers (what else), I then sponged paper with DI inks in tumbled glass, weathered wood and frayed burlap and then sprinkled with water to look like snow. Star shape was stamped in w.wood. I doodled a fine line round edge to give a bit of definition. This was then mounted on blue bazzill card and then kraft card base.

As usual he gave 110% with all his special effets - music, lighting etc. Great to see so many demons and I thought Mark was brilliant tottering about on his heels and flicking his hair back. If you missed it, you definitely missed out.

After that - this Friday it is our very own expo - "MASQUERADE". As usual Little Sue has designed the poster.

Mark and I are organising a Quiz Night. Date - Friday 2nd August. There will be prizes, food and entertainment. Cost to be confirmed.

Friday 27 September is the World's biggest coffee morning for MacMillan Cancer Relief. A slight change to our usual schedule. We will be serving tea/coffee and cake in the HUB - community space in the indoor market in Crewe town centre on the Friday morning before moving back to the shop for the afternoon session. Shop again all day Saturday 28th with MAKE n TAKE as usual and hopefully a raffle.

Our ARTISAN MARKET will be Saturday 6th October so start thinking about stalls if you want to participate. This year will be one day only and we will have more promotion and advertising.

We now have a delivery from PaperArtsy. Wonderfully simplistic but very effective JOFY stamps designed by Jo Firth-Young. I have also started to stock a few of the fabulous Fresco Finish chalk acrylics - very nice! I will obviously add to the colour range! The Cubby Holehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02020582692500161772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2705520761169735248.post-35096474577589997022013-06-21T04:34:00.000-07:002013-06-21T04:34:00.968-07:00Christine Costello - Poppies

Hello there! Just wanted to let you know there are lots of new items in store at the moment and lots more to come.

WOODWARE
stamps galore and all reasonably priced. My creative team have been
very busy with the new stamps from INDIGO BLU and more from WILD ROSE
STUDIO.

Mark's preview night last Friday was a huge success...I am sure photos will follow.

We
have postponed the dates for the next workshop ----aaargh!!!! But
finally a date is set:- "Texture Paste and Masks" will take place on:-

Saturday 6th July

1pm - 4.30pm

Cost £10

It is going to be a bit of an experimental afternoon; playing, painting and messing about with stuff!

Loyalty Card News!

Unfortunately
the loyalty card is reducing to a value of £10. It has been the same
amount of £12 ever since I opended back in West Street. My running
costs increase all the time and I cannot compete with the various
shopping channels that people seem to lured into. I will obviously

Stepper Card
Papers used are from Secret Garden by Graphic 45. The main image I coloured with Pro-markers in co- ordinating colours, cut out and placed on top of an embossed panel, which has been brushed with Distress Ink, Antique Linen and edged in Aged Green embossing enamel. Butterflies are doubled to add dimension, and the bodies embossed with Aged Green embossing powder again. The sentiment is from my stash.
Again I have used Graphic 45 Secret Garden papers for the background. Main image is coloured using Pro-markers in shades of cream and dusky pink, an extra layers
I am on a working party that is organising events to commenorate the centenary of WWI next year. With lots of planning there will be loads going on.

Our annual poetry night will focus on work from the WWI poets such as Wilfred Owen, Rupert Brooke, Siegfried Sassoon etc.

We will also be creating art peices that focus on the significance of the poppy. SUZANNE, MARK and MYSELF will be getting together soon to kick around ideas and look at cost etc.

So our working theme for next year will be "there's one corner of a foreign field".

A peep of journal pages from the past.....
AT LAST!! A completed project! Our postcards swap has now come to an end. If you remember everyone had a 5"x7" piece of card which needed to be covered in background paper - just any scraps bits that I am sure you will have retrieved from your stash.

When this was done they were all swapped for the next bit. We had to cut images from books, magazines etc and add them in a pleasing manner and here are some of the results. You can see all in the shop.
We have been back from our travels for over a week now (bad performance of my PA, Suzanne) and we had a really relaxing time. We were in the Normandy region of France - stopping first in the very pretty village - Veules Les Roses before crossing the Pont du Normandy and onto Honfleur which I never tire of.

We did not do a lot - pottered about, drinking coffee and eating cake!

I fiddled about in my journal and made a few cards - thoroughly enjoyed myself. Did a lot of reading too. I finished Animal Farm by George Orwell and also the Boy in Striped Pyjamas and am even halfway through another strange book - cannot believe it!!!

How are the journals going?

What's New
Now stockists of "Chloe Stamps". Some really nice designs and reasonably priced too. Our stamp of the month is "Flutterby Wreath" I am sure you will love it!

Also some additions to our Indigo Blu range. There will be a workshop coming up soon using these.

Have you used Memory Box dies? Just a little intricate but very beautiful. Cutting is made easier with the metal shim.

The new "Wild Rose" range is expected soon complete with co-ordinating paper pads.

WORKSHOP
Texture pastes and masks - Saturday 1st June 1pm - 4.30pm.
A playful afternoon just messing about with stuff!!
Cost - £10
..but my PA, Suzanne has too much typing to do lol:)

The circle journals are doing the rounds ...don't forget the next swap date is this coming Saturday, 25th May. I hope that you have not all dived in haha ...but given it some thought! Remember you are now working on someone else's project. Read their rules first and then plan what you are going to do. Please respect all work - that goes without saying.

I, myself have made my journal quite simple so that it is not too intimadating for those who are new to this kind of project. It can seem like a daunting task to be confronted with.

Men's cards are always difficult so here's three with a fishing theme and all very easy. They were a recent make and take. All stamps used are from Woodware.
Will back soon ...Suzanne is doing a blogging marathon for me!
Well we have our very own big "circle.....Please head over to the Cubby Hole website by clicking HERE to see the extensive information that Nigel has kindly provided. We won't repeat it here but we will provide the list of participants and their themes....some very interesting ones! It is going to be fun but it is going to be long...let's please try to keep to the deadlines - remember if you miss a deadline then it puts pressure on the person you are handing the circle journal over to each month. AND seen as we are such a nice friendly bunch of people at the Cubby Hole we would not want that lol :)

Little Sue - "Typography"

Mrs CubbyHole - "Poems"

Wendy - "The Last Word"

Christine C - "Bookworm"

Nigel - "Moondance"

Kristina - "Memories"

Carol B - "Music, Music, Music"

Suzanne - "Vintage Nature Journal"

Barbara - "Favourite Songs"

Dot - "In my Garden"

Lynda - "Cartoon Characters""

Janet - "Snowdrops"

Suzi B - "Significant Places"

Lisa - "Vintage Chic"

What do you all think?

APRIL 27th is the date we are all to have our journals ready with Carol for exchange. Say goodbye to it now for 14-months WOW!

We are working off the above list ....so for example Mrs Cubby Hole will always receive the next circle journal from Little Sue...Mrs Cubby Hole will always give the next circle journal to Wendy...i.e. a circle - it is never broken!

The most important rule is to have FUN! Be imaginative and ENJOY!

The first stage was simple. All I asked you to do was cover your base card with some background papers. I think everyone has returned then now so I will start the swapping process.

Stage 2 Find some suitable images from books, magazines, background papers etc. These can be anything you like really; figures, faces, birds, animals, flowers etc. Then all you do in a pleasing manner is stick them on. It is mean't to be quirky! Here are Suzanne's and mine.
1. Cut tag shape from reasonable quality card (I don't understand GSM so I never bother with that - if you like the quality use it!).

2. Stamp images of your choice using a dye based ink pad like Memories or Memento. These do not bleed if you use Promarkers. My image is "Doo Lally Pip" by Lindsay Mason - available in store.

3. When image is coloured and dry, coat it all over with a thin layer of "glue n seal" using a small paintbrush. Give this a quick blast with your heat gun to make sure it is dry.

4. Using your foam blending tool cover entire tag with contrasting colours of distress inks. The sealed image will "resist" the ink and add a shine to your work.
First let me tell you that my grand sort out continues. I am on a mission and already I have got rid of loads of stuff although I am sure Paul and Kieran might disagree. I feel we often try and convince ourselves that we will fit back into that outfit but if we have not worn it for years, we can do without it...It's like a declutter for the mind too!

Anyway to the new products.

STAMPENDOUS have designed some more of their jumbo stamps - Poppy and Daisy. Included in the pack is a mask which enables you to put the stamp to more uses.

1. Stamp image onto base card using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Allow to dry.

2. Colour image using your current favourite method. I like the soft effect you get when using chalks and I usually apply with my fingers so you can smudge the colours together.

3. Place the mask over the stamped image and then swipe Versamark ink pad all over the exposed card. Remove mask.

4. Now add a layer of Shabby Pink Embossing Powder, a sprinkle of Lavendar Chunky Glass Glitter and a few Rose Fragments - all from the "Frantage" range.

5. Next, apply heat directly underneath with your heat gun. This creates a molten affect and the glitter and fragments bond and fuse onto the embossing powder. Don't heat from the top - it will blow everything off.

WARNING You are using direct heat so be careful not to burn yourself. The embossing powder when heated also gets very hot so don't poke fingers into it either!!
I met up with Kirsty Wiseman at the show. You might know here from "Create and Craft" - excuse my bad language!

Many years ago we did a workshop together and shared a Travel Lodge room. This year she was demonstrating "WASHI TAPE" and she had some lovely ideas. I snaffled one of her cards; simple and suitable for many occasions.

Washi tape lies very flat but is very easy to pleat. I think we might need to have some in the shop....

The new Distress Ink Pads are in store and are selling well. I have already re-ordered some of the colours.

The Great Big Sale continues and I have added some more stuff to make way for the new items. Don't miss out!
...from SUZANNE. I gave this particular set of stamps called "Retro Kids" from Stampendous to her to produce three examples for displaying in the shop .....I knew this would push her boundaries as these stamps are not something she would chose for herself.

CARD 1
is a twisted easel card which has utilised - this is a simple fold. Suzanne also decided to use from her own stash WILD ROSE papers and a number of Marianne Dies these are available in the shop.

CARD 2
is a stepper card which can be made from a piece of A4 card should you not wish to buy them pre-made. As the "kids" are retro style Suzanne has used an old piece of paper from her stash - I am sure most of us can remember these patterns from the 70's.

BUILDING BLOCKS
These have been covered with designer paper which has been overstamped. They are very pale in colour however do look better in real life.

It's a few weeks now since I visited the Trade Show at the NEC in Birmingham. I went on the Sunday for a general look around and then back again on the Monday to make some orders. I have to say it was much less busy this year (sign of the times maybe!) but I found this better as I was more able to talk to companies, ask questions and watch demonstrations.

I met up with lots of familiar faces and it was good to have a catch up.

The new "Crafty Individuals" stamps have arrived - quite different but I really like them.

Graphic 45 "Secret Garden" range of paper is ordered but not yet available - you'll love it!

Also waiting for some new "Spellbinders" dies - very nice!!!

Jane Gill and Francoise Reade from WOODWARE have yet again designed some amazing stamps and card examples to show them at their best. They are such good value for money and produce clear and clean images.

Our very own WENDY CAIN used "Zentangle BUTTERFLY" to make this simple but very elegant card. I always think black and white looks very classy.
